Hello Everyone!
Hope you are all making the best of the strange new world we find ourselves in. Please be safe out there. Times like these remind us that we are all one people and we need to take care of each other. Myself? It's been quite a surreal experience these last few days.
A week and change ago I was wondering out loud to my friends whether or not to cancel my trip to Emerald City Comic Con. I decided to pull the trigger a day before the event was officially postponed and got a refund on most things. A few days later everything hit the fan and now we are here. Directly speaking, next month's postponement of Wonder Con hurts us quite a bit. We usually net between $3-4k at that show since it's based near my hometown. That's just money we won't have for comics this year.
Vince was also going to travel to LA next month for a yearly creative sabbatical. That unfortunately is also on hold. At this point San Diego Comic-Con is the last major marker on our calendar comicswise that we're hoping is not affected by the ongoing pandemic. Ah well...
Patch Update!
On the bright side, Hamm is mostly done with the design of the patch!
We're thinking about doing up the patch completely in Nymeran. Stay tuned for how it turns out! Hopefully we hit $15k so we can include one with every physical order!

Funded! A Stretch Goal & More Comics! Yeehaw!

Hey Everyone!
We crossed the $9,000 mark and so are officially funded! Woohoo!
$15,000 Stretch Goal - Stonehand Badge !!
So to celebrate getting to $9k, we have a special announcement!
~~If we hit $15,000, we will include a Stonehand Badge with every physical package!~~
Hamm's preliminary explorations. Nothing is finalized yet!
The badge will be designed by none other than Hamm Ling! We don't have a design finalized yet, but here are pictures of the last two badges we've made:

Uh oh! It looks like our Zine Quest project, The Love Balloon, is in imminent threat of going down! We have 24 hours left and about $400 to go! Yowzas! Board the escape hatches cause this baby is about to crash!
Artist Spotlight: Hamm Ling
Back to our regularly scheduled programming! Today I want to talk a little bit about a couple of the other artists working on Glow #4, starting with Hamm Ling!

He also does a kickass comic called Monkey and Peach with writer David Chun that you can check out here (it's seriously a freakin' good first issue...)
We've been huge admirers of Simone's work ever since we stumbled upon The Spider King Kickstarter when researching back in 2014 for Skies of Fire!

It was an honor having Simone on board for the variant for this issue. He did a killer job, in line with our theme of album covers for the variants:

The Spider King is honestly one of the best comics I've read that's come from crowdfunding. It's brilliant in both art and writing. Both Josh and Simone and extremely talented and I can't wait to see what they come up with next. Simone is on a new Dark Horse project but I don't think it's been announced yet. So I took a look around KS Comics but decided to hold off on sharing some projects until next week, given that March is a very popular launch period for a number of creators. So, expect that next time along with some more behind the scenes stuff.

Hey Everyone!
Thanks for coming by to check out the fourth issue of Glow! We're excited to bring this action-packed installment to you! We had a huge day 1 - over 300 people and $5k raised! You are all awesome. We couldn't do this without you!
Over the course of the campaign we'll try to update about once a week, highlighting a different aspect of the issue or comic creative process in the meantime!
The Great Gate of Shoddai!
Today I'd like to start at the great gate of Shoddai! Over the course of the series we've been playing with the idea of runic calligraphic magic as an analogue to technology in the world of Glow. You see it in Caszy's longrifle as well as Morik, the Stonehand, of course his fearsome Golem!
In order to even the odds and justify Shoddai's existence in a harsh world, we knew from the beginning that they would have a powerful magical artifact of their own!
Designs by Anny Maulina.
Designing the gate took a lot of back and forth collaboration between our various designers and artists. In the end we went with a simple design inspired by Japanese shinto iconography.

.... and when I say Japanese Shinto Iconography I really mean Naruto.
So there you have it folks! How the sausage is made! We take inspiration from everywhere. :]
I'm being a bit cheeky, but it is true to a large extent. Glow is a mishmash of things we love as creators, including: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Dark Sun, Miyazaki, Final Fantasy, Warcraft, and a lot more. Consciously or subconsciously, you can see those influences all throughout our little comic. The result is something that amounts to the culmination of our artistic and cultural sensibilities filtered through a story filled with plenty of bumps in the road to create something our fourteen year old selves would find awesome.

We could use your help in spreading the word! Please, if you could take a moment and share this project with people that you think would dig it, we would be super appreciative! Glow has an awesome but somewhat sleepy fanbase because of how infrequently we release issues. We're trying to change that, but we also know we're very bad at spreading the word and talking about ourselves! Alas, we're all about writing and creating, for better or worse.
This is what we look like in real life! We are bad at the internet thing.
That said - if YOU are good at hyping up the things you dig, and you dig Glow, can you take a minute and talk about it in a public space?
